Dear Mr. States,
On your May 28th radio show, you said, "If my son, God forbid, if my son put on a pair of high heels, I would probably hit him with one of my shoes. I would throw a shoe at him."
Then you claimed that it was just a joke, and that you would never encourage parental violence against their children.
Mr. States, this is a picture of Ronnie Paris. Ronnie isn't laughing at your joke today, because he is dead. He is dead because his father frequently beat his child, out of fear that the three year old was becoming too "soft" and a "sissy."
Sir, parents do beat their male-bodied children when they exhibit feminine behavior. So when you say that you'd do it too, it's no laughing matter. It's a matter of life and death.
Mr. States, this is a picture of Cameron McWilliams. Cameron isn't laughing today either, because he is dead. He hanged himself when his mother forbade him to wear makeup on his face. According to the child's mother, "It was apparent he was unhappy and said he wanted to be a girl."
Sir, there are children in the world we share, who need their parents' love, understanding and compassion... not the heel of your shoe.
Mr. States, this is a picture of Lawrence King. You probably know why he isn't laughing at your joke today. Lawrence is dead because a classmate put a bullet in his head in their 8th grade classroom. The shooter was upset at his classmate, because Lawrence, who frequently came to class wearing high heels and makeup, had asked the shooter to be his valentine.
Sir, our children learn from our example. If grownups show intolerance and joke, as you did, about violence against those who are different, the children will follow our lead: children like the one who currently awaits trial.. as an adult.
Mr. States, your jokes have consequences... deadly consequences.

Please feel free to stay a while. :)
When I friend you, I'll add you onto some filters that include comments on what I write in relation to the other kinds of artwork I do, such as ball-jointed resin dolls who get pretty darn rowdy in their own storylines.
(That's where I came from too!)
Very well said!
Your disgusting. You are one of the worst people I have ever seen in my life. Using images and stories like this to further your smear campaign, you are no better then the anti-abortion groups that use pictures of aborted fetuses in a effort to send a shocking message and incite hate.
And the worst part is that it is taken out of context. Your making it seem as if this is what Arnie was trying to say, when it wasn't. A shock jock making a joke had NOTHING to do with this. What these kids or parents did to their kids have nothing to do with what Arnie said. He said he would throw a shoe... He didn't say that he would kill them. Its this sort of smearing that is making people confused.
And I might even go as far as to state that you are, by proxy, advocating violence towards Arnie. You are saying that statements like his lead to murdering of kids. You are using the same logic and tactics as the person who killed George Tiller. Your using other completely unrelated situations to try and justify your need for censorship. Its irresponsible, illogical and should not be taken seriously.
What happened to these kids is serious. Its horrible and tragic. It should never have happened and people joking about killing children is horrible and in bad taste. However, Arnie did not joke about anything of the sort. He said he would throw a shoe. Eddie Murphy said the same thing on his standup comedy special "Delirious" and I dont see you standing up saying he is a bad person. And he talked very brutally about beatings he received as a child. If your truly against that, you will have to come out against a lot more people who have said a lot worse, even in joking context.
You are persecuting RAD for a few words they spoke. Worse, you are turning it into a smear campaign blowing things way out of proportion and making false claims. He didnt advocate child abuse. He didnt have anything to do with these children and their deaths. He didnt create intolerance. In fact, I think your the one creating intolerance. Your creating hatred for sure by associating RAD with these incidents. I just thank God everyday that there are logical people on this earth who realize that what you are doing is just ridiculous and wrong. Using these tragic events to further your own personal bigotry is just not right. Associating them and their horrible stories with something unrelated, calling to memory what happened to them for no good reason, you should be ashamed. I dont believe in God, personally, but if I did, I would say this: I hope you burn in hell.
Maybe I'll meet him in hell when I get there. If he's nice, I might even buy him a beer at the bar.
I must say, however, that equating poor tone and choice of words in an attempt at humor to the vicious murder of two children and the suicide of a third is not only in poor taste, but disrespectful to the memory of those children. Making the implication that these things are directly caused by careless humor is even more disgusting. Social attitudes matter; I'm not saying they don't. But I mean, you directly use an If-Then clause to say that humor causes dead kids. Perhaps you should choose your words more carefully.
I don't believe that Arnie or Rob ever thought such statements were a joke. I believe they simply are using that excuse due to the backlash of their statement.
